22/04/2019 Another Successful Project Completed by UES

Situated within close proximity to our head office, we’ve completed yet another project in the North West, this time located in Chorlton, Manchester.

The scheme comprised of a mix of high-specification apartments and commercial units. The power requirements necessitated the establishment of a new unit substation, to be located within the development car park. The high voltage connection point was established in conjunction with Electricity North West (ENWL) and our design team set to work on a value engineered solution. The substation location was a key element of the design process,as we had to consider the risks of a car park substation, coupled with security, fresh air changes if located close to the main building as well as the best-fit arrangement for incoming HV and outgoing LV cables.

Our contracted works comprised of three new gas connections to the commercial units, a new 800kVA unit substation and associated HV and LV cable trench excavations/installation, installation of distribution boards within the metering/plant room as well as testing and commissioning of all new supplies. We also completed the HV jointing aspects onto the ENWL 6.6kV network, using our team of ENWL authorised cable jointers.

The client was that impressed with our whole approach to the project that we’ve since secured additional work on another of his developments located in Manchester.
